122-5. I'm thoroughly enjoying the Australian demise.

156-8 now with the umpires offering the Aussies the light... which they take, can't blame them really. Superb day for England and Aussies still need another 70 odd to avoid the follow-on. England in pole position but must capitalise.

What a day though...pontings face was priceless. That made me laugh as well! What a cricketer Anderson is turning out to be. Fantastic bowler &, for a number 10, a very good batsmen. I believe that's his 50th (or more) consecutive innings without scoring a duck and he has a test average of 15. He's also no mean fielder. His only problem is the football team he supports! The strength in depth in the batting, should they ever all fulfil it at once, could be as good as the Aussies but our bowlers are much better. What will we do without Freddie though?

The conditions seem to favour batting today so no surprise that we've chosen to bat - I suppose we want to build up as big of a lead as possible today as the conditions tomorrow favour bowling more than batting. Decent decision as long as we don't have a collapse, mind you with the way Mitchell Johnson is bowling and the fact Ponting is persisting with him for god knows what reason makes me think we'll do alright!

Not so sure about not enforcing the follow on, they might regret it.

Seem to be doing alright so far, 50 runs without loss.

I'd bat for another half an hour tomorrow - let Flintoff have his moment. Wouldn't be too fussed if we declared now mind, if the Aussies overhaul 521 then fair monkey'sing play.

A few points.
1. Anybody who would've taken a draw yesterday after being in that position is either not all that with cricket or is just stupid.
2. We should declare before the start tomorrow. If they rack up 521 then thats by a fair stretch a world record.
3. We should've made them follow on. I reckon it will bite us on the arse

And another one.. the Aussies are monkey'sed, under some serious pressure here. 34-2, forget 522 they won't even be troubling 300 at this rate!

If they get 521 fair play. You just don't get 500 plus in the 4th innings of a test match, that's fantasy land.

The record is 418 for a reason. 200 runs on a fifth day pitch with five wickets left is a very tall ask. I reckon we'll be made to sweat a bit tomorrow (it wouldn't be England otherwise would it!), but we will win with relative comfort. Oh, and in other news, 2005 hero Gary Pratt is now a self storage manager in Bishop Auckland

Once either Haddin or Clarke goes, the rest will follow soon after I predict. We'll win by just over 100 runs I think.

We won by 115 runs in the end - well played lads, that's 1-0 for the series and we've still got the Edgbaston test (traditionally our strongest ground) to come.

And as if an England win isn't enough, Northants are well in the driving seat awat at Gloucstershire skittling them for 147. Interestingly this is the first time in 9 attempts our captain has won the toss..
Also, 4 of our 6 bowlers have played/play full international cricket.
