Well. Nearly D-Day. I actually fancy us to do this. The weather is ok here atm, getting maximum bonus points isn't out of the question. If we get that i'm pretty sure we can do it

If we get that i'm pretty sure we can do it Certainly is going to be a cracker. Derbyshire will prepare a result wicket and I suppose Northants will be too. It's going to be good weather well into October as well, shame the cricket season has to end this week. Meanwhile, Sussex believe they can avoid the drop. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/sussex/8267215.stmBoth Roses groundsmen have been told what to do

Well after losing our 14th toss from 16(is that a record?) we were put in, and were 44-4 before being 456-6 at the close. Rob White out for 193 and Hall 138 N.O.. Hopefully declare ASAP in the morning. We're certainly in the box seat

Sussexs County Championship survival hopes have gone as they're relegated to the 2nd Division.
Lancashires 5 bonus points to Sussexs 4 bonus points has increased the gap between 7th and 8th to 16pts. A win won't be enough to save Sussex as a win only scores 14pts.

We have been well and truly set up here. Thats my marked 'abuse team' next season. Hopefully we play them at some stage in the revamped twenty20. Some serious stuff then.

Jammy? Not so. Was promised more but didnt get them. Got 6 bits last year including Strauss Middlesex shirt It's still a haul though. Three years ago Simon Guy was handing out club merchandise as well as players throwing away their kit after the Durham game. My best mate got Craig Whites T20 shirt, Mark Lawsons boots, something else from Si Guy and Darren Lehmann.

'Tis always a good time. Shame the one game a season people turn up. Most people here ask the players in the days/weeks before the last day and get it when they leave the ground

Did the Desktop get lucky today then Nah, as soon as the Yorkshire 2nd XI got soundly beat to Essex we swiftly moved to the nearest pub for the England-South Africa run chase. Graeme Swann was growing in confidence every over, that one run over wicket to get Duminy out shifted the onus on England. Don't know what Graeme Smith was playing at needing a runner in the latter stages? He only had cramp! We know Andrew Strauss can make allowances but this is a pee-take.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/yorkshire/8302256.stmI'm absolutely seething with the decision, how could Stewart Regan release one of the best all time bowlers for England? Our bowling attack is weak enough with the retirement of Deon Kruis and Adil Rashid/Tim Bresan as roadies for England, but Yorkshire are in deep trouble next season unless big signings are made.

Sod it, i'm going to say it how it is and I don't think i'll be too far from the truth.
Matthew Hoggard was offered a 2yr contract with a 3rd year option before the season began. Hoggy decided to explore his options, purely because he wants to play one day cricket and he didn't get much one day cricket with Yorkshire. He didn't reject the contract.
If anyone has read Hoggys autobiography (a highly recommended read) Hoggy didn't play much One Day Cricket for Yorkshire because of family reasons. He couldn't get in the one day team afterwards because competition for one day bowling places were fierce.
Stewart Regan, Yorkshire Chief Executive claims that negotiations broke down because Matthew Hoggard demanded too much. Hoggy claims Yorkshire withdrew the contract offer.
Conspiracy theory:
West Indies ODI washed out and the Ashes 4th test match finished in 3 days. Yorkshire lose money to refunds in the Windies ODI and the 4th day of Ashes for no play. This is leaving a huge deficit in the balance sheet, forcing Yorkshire to amend their season budget. There won't be enough money to pay for Matthew Hoggards contract, therefore release him. Also the ECB are paying cricket clubs to play players under 21 and under 26. With Yorkshire having the best academy in the country, it would make sense to fast-track our academy players for financial gain.
I'm waiting for the end of year balance sheet to be posted out with my membership renewal form to confirm my suspicions. Last season Yorkshire made £330k profit and the aim was to make more money. If the balance remains the same or less, then there is an area of concern.
I have the feeling Regan is pandering to Gilles Clarke. The England test match with Bangladesh mysteriously gets changed to Pakistan-Australia. I personally wouldn't want to watch two rivals play each other, even if tickets were free. There is more emphasis of improving the cricket ground and retaining test match status than improving the Yorkshire team.
I honestly can't see Yorkshire getting reinforcements, even an International player. Our bowling attack will be selected from: Ajmal Shazhad, Steve Patterson, Ricky Pyrah, James Lee, Oliver Hannon Dalby, Lee Hodgson, David Wainwright and Azeem Rafiq. No disrespect but they won't get us wickets let alone 20 without experience to back up.

Looks like it's the end of the road of signing Kolpak players so easily news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/8325975.stmThankully Jacques Rudolph can remain with Yorkshire for the rest of his playing career. Don't think I could take the pain of losing another top player.

This is ridiculous.
This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the national team. This is about the small clubs being made smaller and the bigger counties can get some trophies. Smaller counties rely on Kolpaks to an extent and now, with the other ruliongs, the price of under 26's has doubled

County Cricket Clubs are only getting £80,000 if they comply to the age rules. It's not much of an incentive when players like Michael Lumb are getting paid £100,000.
IMO it's a cheap and pathetic way of bringing up youngsters. There should be a County Championship Academy for things like that, seperate the men from the boys.

The cricket fixtures have come out - whey hey!
Season is starting a week earlier than usual on Friday 9th April with the regular season ending on Thursday 16th September.
The Twenty20 cup group stages are from 1st June to 18th July (so much for the matches played predominantly on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Fixture list is crowded once again, midway through the season Yorkshire are playing 13 days of cricket out of 15 because some idiot decided to slot two County Championship games in between the FPT20.
Sunday, 27 June Friends Provident T20 Yorkshire v Leicestershire, Headingley Carnegie, 11:00
Monday, 28 June to Thursday, 1 July LV County Championship: Division One Lancashire v Yorkshire, Old Trafford, 11:00
Friday, 02 July Friends Provident T20 Northamptonshire v Yorkshire, Northampton, 11:00
Sunday, 04 July Friends Provident T20 Yorkshire v Warwickshire, Headingley Carnegie, 11:00
Monday, 05 to Thursday, 08 July LV County Championship: Division One Yorkshire v Warwickshire, Headingley Carnegie, 11:00
Friday, 09 July Friends Provident T20 Lancashire v Yorkshire, Old Trafford, 11:00
Sunday, 11 July 2010 Tour Match Yorkshire v India A, Headingley Carnegie, 11:00
I can't see why cricket fixtures can be altered from now, it's done for football so why not cricket?

With wins against Warwickshire and Somerset, Yorkshire are top of the County Championship. Been to Day 1, Day 2 and final Day 4 session of the Somerset game. Twas a glorious day on Day 2 and got a bit of a suntan Surprised to see how well Adam Lyth can play as an opener, with scores of 6, 67, 0 and 90. Also Oliver Hannon Dalby has racked up 13 wickets, 10 of them in the 2nd innings
