I think the last movie i watched was Jackass. Obviously no storyline or plot whatsoever but still a good laugh.

The Station Agent - surprisingly good film given that I'd never heard of it or any of the actors & the premise of a bunch of misfits bonding didn't sound too promising. Really enjoyable feel good film.

Watched Memento about a week ago - superb film. Highly recommended - a psychological thriller if you will with an unusual way of telling the story. It's in reverse, so you know the end and learn how it came about - absolutely awesome.

Watched Good Bye Lenin this morning. I think it was made in Germany and is in German but with English subtitles. Really good film actually, it begins in East Germany before the Berlin Wall fell and centres around a family with a staunchly socialist mother. When she sees her only son being arrested for protesting against the various injustices of the communists she suffers a heart attack and falls into a coma. When she awakes the wall has fell. But warned by the doctors that any excitement or stress could cause another heart attack her children must disguise any evidence that East and West Germany have unified. A really good film, i recommend it.

Oooo i've seen some of that Ben, in a German lesson once. Seemed pretty good with moving scenes, as well as slightly absurd ones.

Oooo i've seen some of that Ben, in a German lesson once. Seemed pretty good with moving scenes, as well as slightly absurd ones. The trouble for me it I keep looking at the bloody subtitles even though I can understand what they are saying....never seen that film but it ruined "Downfall (Der Untergang)" for me until I got a copy without subtitles....the it was superb...

I watched Kidulthood the other night, good enough film though it put a bit of a dramatic spin on a teenagers life! Such as this girl who got bullied committed suicide, a young girl getting pregnant (which admittedly isn't unknown these days..) and it was pretty much a film about chavs to be honest. Instead of calling it Kidulthood they should have called it "The day in the life of a south London chav".

Arizona Dream.
A strange film, exceptionally quirky with Johnny Depp in the lead role, also with Faye Dunaway in it. I liked it a lot, it was over 2 hours long and attached much importance to dreams about a fish and eskimos. Apparently the uncut version is over 4 hours long which would have been way too long, only Once Upon A Time In America can get away with that.
Definitely give it a try.

We watched Downfall in History once.. great film IMO. Oh superb.......because of this thread I watched it again Sunday...Bruno Ganz does an impressive job of bringing Hitler to life- he does not rage and spit his way through every scene. His Hitler is a man ailing in both mind and body who drifts between moods.......wonderful cameo roles notably in following several subplots outside the bunker, involving a desperate surgeon trying to help the wounded and a young boy simply trying to stay alive in the Hilter Youth... The scenes in the bunker when Frau Goebbels has her children poisoned was very dramatic and actually had me in tears.... As a result, the film serves as the next best thing to a historical testament of the downfall of a vicious regime, and deserves the credit it has received.

Junebug.
An excellent film exploring family relationships. Guy takes his new wife back to the family home in the Southern states and relationships begin to unfold and unravel.
Definitely recommend this one.

Jane Austen's Mafia.
Attempts to give the mob film genre the airplane treatment but doesn't really come off at all. A few good gags and some funny moments but not really worth bothering with. Notable for being Lloyd Bridges last movie before he died.

National Treasure .. Book of Secrets
In this goofy, good-natured sequel to his 2004 hit, Nicolas Cage returns as mystery-solving treasure hunter Ben Gates. When crooked antiquities dealer Wilkinson (Ed Harris) turns up with a page from the diary of Lincoln's assassin, it seems to prove that Ben's ancestor was a co-conspirator, whilst incidentally hinting at the existence of an Eldorado-like city of gold. Ben, along with dad Patrick (Jon Voight), girlfriend Abigail (Diane Kruger) and partner Riley (Justin Bartha), set about solving the clues which will lead them - and baddie Wilkinson - to the mythical metropolis, hopefully clearing the name of Ben's ancestor en route. Like its predecessor, this is The Da Vinci Code, but with intentional, if corny, laughs.
The globe is duly trotted: Ben and co stop off in Paris (to retrieve a clue from the original Statue of Liberty), London (to nab some hieroglyphs from the Queen's desk), and back to America, where Ben is forced to kidnap the President in order to get hold of the riddle-solving book of state secrets, which urban myth declares all presidents must pass on to one another. Ben's mum Emily (Helen Mirren) proves useful as a hieroglyph translator, and the whole cavalcade ends up at Mount Rushmore for a waterlogged subterranean climax.
Reviewed by Neil Bastian ....... a pretty good one at that

The Mexican with Brad Pitt & Julia Roberts. Not exactly a thought provoking film but a comedy thriller with quite a nice line in plot twists.

Friends With Money:
Good film, bit of a social drama about a group of thirty somethings all of whom have money and partners except for one who is working as a maid. Quite insightful stuff and some very good performances notably from Frances McDormand.
Recommended, worth a look.

Semi-Pro
As it had Will Ferrel in it I thought it'd be a safe bet for a raucous ride of hilarity. Normally the man can do no wrong. This was sadly underwhelming however. Not particularly bad, just underwhelming.
