Watched The Mariachi on TCM the other night.
Pretty good, its the sort of movie that if they made it into a vehicle for Antonio Banderas it would be poo but because they didn't it wasn't.
Dusty Mexican town lots of killing, mistaken identities, a bird, a motorbike and a pit bull.
Oh and it's subtitled.

Hairspray, awful -1/10. My girlfriend dragged me along and i regret going. It was rubbish!!! That's a remake of an original film starring Divine (who was a transvestite). Remakes usually can't hold a light to the originals.

last one i watchd was "it could happen to you" it was on channel 4 the other night 7/10. Nicholas Cage starred in it, it wasn't too bad but it wasn't the best film either.

Last one I watched was Pearl Harbour, but I went for a walk tonight to Choices and rented "Hot Fuzz", apparently it's funny and the rating was 5 stars - any second opinions?

Hot Fuzz is one of the funniest films you will ever see. The two detectives known as "the andys" are the best charectors by far.

Simon Pegg is usually involved with good stuff, I watched all the episodes of a sitcom he was in set in this old rented house with an alcoholic landlady and a mate who was in the TA.
Anyone remember what it was called? I think I'm going senile.

Just watched 2, by the way it took me a light year to find ths thread, the first was Kinky Boots. It's a British film made in 2005 and tells the story of a traditional shoe making company in Northampton which has hit upon hard times thanks to cheap imports.
The owner decides to diversify and starts making stage footwear for drag artists. An excellent little film well cast and made. It has a real feel good factor.
Thoroughly reommended.
The other one is Borat which I have never actually seen before, and didn't actually see fully last night as for some inexplicable reason much of it had been cut out for Turkish TV.
A number of scenes were missing which was very disappointing.
That Baron Cohen has got some front and I liked the general idea of the film which as far as I could see was to drag the prejudices out of unsuspecting Americans.
Liked it.

I watched Brokeback Mountain a couple of weeks ago, they were running it on Channel 4 in dedication to Heath Ledger. Great film, although the ending was rather sad.

I reckon it was cut because whilst Borat takes the mickey out of Jews on the film he's actually parodying the prejudices inherent in Muslims about Jews.

Last film I watched was the new Indiana Jones film. I think it just did enought to follow on from The Last Crusade although it wasn't as good.
There is a new film with Simon Pegg in coming out in October-time called How To Lose Friends And Alienate People. It looks pretty decent so I will go to see that.

So good I bought the dvd's of both series - and I never buy comedies because, usually, once you've seen it you know all the jokes so little point in watching it again. However, Spaced was off the wall enough to enjoy it more than once.

Saw one last night called The Dead Zone. It's an '80s movie based on a Stephen King novel starring a young looking Christopher Walken.
Guy is in a car crash & a coma for 5 years, on awaking he finds himself with psychic powers which he has very mixed feelings about.
Average stuff, don't go out of your way.

just watched a good film called high fidelity, think it was a book before they made the film or summat but still it was a great watch, was about this record store owner that breaks up with his girl friend and then kinda re-evaluates all of his previous relationships, a good watch i would recomend it.

High Fidelity was a book by Nick Hornby and one of those books that whilst reading prompts loud laughing that attracts the attention of all of those around us. It's actually set in London and I was very disappointed when in making the film they decided to set it in Chicago but I have to say that John Cusack and Jack Black carry the film so well that it is still a joy and very funny. I recommend it too.
