Nice one Ben - sounds like a fantastic try. If the prop was standing at fly-half then who in God's name was in the front row for the scrum that directly preceded it? Always good to beat your rivals especially the Geordies for you i guess. Did you enjoy playing flanker btw?

I said scrum and meant breakdown, sorry!
Absolutely loved playing Flanker as well.
I couldn't believe how good our scrum was today as well, I thought we looked like a bigger pack but didn't have any idea we'd be shoving them around quite as much as we did.

Wow, that was insane! The inter-form football contests are on at the minute, and I'm not playing for my form (didn't see the sign up list going round!). However, yesterday, I heard a lad going round asking people to play for another form, as they only had 2 men! Being the eternal sportsman (and wanting a game!), I said I'd play, borrowed a kit off my mate, and played. I've played in the nets for quite a few years, (though I've changed to a defender recently), so I volunteered to take the gloves. 1st game vs Ormeroad, the arguably best team. I was on fire, save after save, till they got in in finally (hey, the ball took a deflection ). The ball came back to me straight after kick off, and I just smacked it upfield to our winger (it was a near perfect pass, considering I had to wear me school shoes!), who ran up, centered it to another lad who equilised, and it ended 1-1 That was a good result - then I reilised the next game was against my own form, Clegg! I went in defence for the 1st half, and we went 1-0 up quite quickly. However, just before half time, I managed to let the striker get behind me (the shame! ) and he finished. 2nd half, I was back inbetween the sticks, and just before the end, we got another one, 2-1! They went gung ho, but I made a few saves, before we went on an attack, which broke down, and the lad who'd scored got the ball, and legged it, he was 1-on-1 with me... But took one too many touches, and my defending instincts took over, I got in there and hoofed it away, just before the full time whistle I was well chuffed, though not the most popular lad in my form, it's fair to say

Haha brilliant Joe - have a goal.
It's always great to beat the team you play for. I remember when i volunteered to play on the other team to help make up the numbers for them when i played for my Rugby club, Bexley. I scored a try (i was a winger back in those days) and helped them (Cranbrook maybe?) beat Bexley by 2 points. I absolutely loved it and can honestly say it was one of the most satisfying wins ever for me personally. Absolutely ribbed the lads for months afterwards...

My mate did that when we were playing for Sunderland RFC against Durham RFC. Durham were a player short so he went in to the second row for them. We (Sunderland) won and he got injured.

LURUFC trials/training today. Followed by a trial matches tomorrow. I'm starting at Blindside Flanker for my team and I'm jumping at two in the lineout, the lineout is not familiar territory for me but I made some impressive catches during practise today off some dodgy throws from the hooker.

I can't believe this thread has been hidden away, I've had so many cricket matches to review this year. Oh well at least theres a lot of billiards to review.
We've had our end of presentation on Tuesday, I could only attend the "press conference" because I had to shoot off to work. I won the "best catch of the 2009 season" award. Very similar to this legendary catch but I was fielding in gully rather than slip.

I'll review the catch of the season game, can remember it as if it happened yesterday not 6 weeks ago.
T&A (my team) scored a slightly below par 118 all out. Opener Neil scored 35 while other opener Ricky got a diamond duck (ran out without facing a ball), Bill came in at no3 and fired 37. T&A looked like posting 140+ runs in the 20 overs but Sky bowled well in the end as the wickets tumbled. I only managed 2 runs, got caught behind and stumped to make sure I was out haha.
Sky started brightly in reply, but the spin of Ian and Sami slowed the run rate down a touch. Sky were poised at 78/1 off 12 overs until Dan stepped in and bowled a tight spell.
His wicket came off my catch of the season. At first I was leaning towards the left but realised the ball was going to the right, so I flung myself in the air. Had both hands cusped for the catch but realised again it was about to beat me to the right. So I stuck my right arm out in the hope to just take the speed off but the ball stuck to my hand and firmly gripped it as I landed on the floor.
That was just the beginning, Bill comes to bowl and gets figures of 1 runs for 3 wickets. Jon bowls and grabs two wickets in successive deliveries, the hat-trick ball was a no ball but the ball after that another wicket.
Sky needed 13 off the final over and 5 off the final ball in near darkness. Every fielder was on the boundary rope. The batsman played a good shot at deep cover and ran a quick two. A third run came and Daryl, cool as a cucumber threw it hard and long to the non strikers end for a run out.
