Right here goes, we got absolutely stuffed.
Gateshead R.F.C - 55 : Bede Sixth Form Academy - 10
Turns out that they weren't a college side but an academy side that trains most days of the week.
We where actually leading at half time. They struck first with a penalty then and unconverted try. Not long after that our fly half kicked into the left hand corner of their 22, i chased, made their winger fumble then picked it up whilst sidestepping their fullback then going on to score. Not long afterwards we had them under enourmous pressure but were turned over a couple of meters from the try line. They tried a kick to clear the line but our scrum half charged it down with his nose then dived on it to score. That was the end of our scoring for the day. In the second half injuries took their toll and they ran riot. I ended up playing the last 15 minutes at full back.

Only in the first half Luke, after that we crumbled as they ran in try after try. The forwards kept knocking it on and as a result the backs never got any ball whatsoever let alone any quality ball. The only time we looked remotely good was when we tried the kick and chase.

I'm going to hold my hands up and say i was absolutely at fault for one of their tries as well. I didn't tackle well enough and ended up forcing the attacker into the base of the post where he touched down. We just didn't use our possesion well enough.

Um- I scored a blinder in PE footie? THey had a corner, it went into touch, my teammate took a quick throw in, I ran onto it, and ran 3/4 of the pitch with it, and smacked it into the top corner we drew 2-2

Yesterday, playing footy with some mates managed to somehow hit a 45 yard volley into the top corner, i can't even score volleys from 5 yards out normally

Scoring isn't my speciality, assists are. From corners, crosses or clever passes that slice the defence in half. When i do score it's usually headers or cool finishes across the keeper.

crikey nice one volleys r my speciality So he says before today... I was playing Right back, played a blinder, but when I blocked a shot, like 3 yrds from the net, it bounced up funny, I tried to volley it clear, but I sliced it, and it went backwards! Thank God the keeper saved it!

well, rugby training wasn't brilliant today. only 4 turned up and then the reserve prop decided to drive his shoulder into my kneecap. i'm now sitting here with a knee like a melon and very little feeling in my lower leg, ive got ice on but if the swelling doesnt go down its hospital for me.

All soft tissue injuries to the knee should receive the same immediate first aid treatment. This follows the RICE procedure Ginger.... Rest the injury initially, then reintroduce movement so you don't lose too much muscle strength..... Ice packs or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel should be applied to your knee to reduce swelling and bruising. You shouldn't apply ice directly to your skin as it can give you an "ice burn" - place a cloth between the ice and skin..... Compress the joint by bandaging it to support the injury and help decrease swelling...... Elevate the knee and keep it supported........ Further treatment will vary according to which ligaments you have damaged and how badly. It will also depend on how much sport you do. If you don't put much demand on your knee, resting it will be enough mate..... You have not been charged for this consult.....my old Radiographer training....

Take care Ginger......In healing an injury of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason backwards. That is a very useful accomplishment, and a very easy one, but people do not practise it much. In the everyday affairs of life it is more useful to reason forward, and so the other comes to be neglected. There are fifty who can reason synthetically for one who can reason analytically.....and you are one of them.....

ouch guessing it requires surgery or physiotherapy at thet very least

Post by hallmackem on Nov 22, 2007 23:49:55 GMT
May need physiotherapy, not bad enough to require surgery. That wasn't a definative diagnosis though, if the swelling doesn't go down within the next couple of days i'll need to go in again. Thats just the more likely problem due to the fact i can't bend my leg.
