Welcome to "RHF: In The Spotlight". I am FezNTFC, and I will be asking questions about the members of RHF. The questions are interesting, crazy, whacky, serious, personal, intimate, and some are just downright rude!!
This weeks member in the hotseat is our resident Blackburn fan, Arover.

Personal:
What is your name?
Alex Smith
How old are you?
52 years old.
Which city/town/village do you currently live in?
A small village in South West Turkey called Gokseki, the nearest town is Kas, pronounced cash. I was brought up in Blackburn and lived nearly all of my life in the North West of England, mainly in the Manchester area.
Tell us one thing we don't know about you?
I've been married twice and I was adopted. That's 2!
Have you got an "Other Half"?
Yes Mrs Rover, Barbara my second wife who I love very much.
What school and/or University did you go to?
St Mary's College (Catholic) Salford University then Manchester Polytechnic as was.
What subjects did you study and what were your favourite ones?
I studied English, History & Politics at A level and did a degree in Politics & History. Originally it was Sociology but I soon gave that one the slip.
What is your Goal in life? Have you already achieved it?
Wow big question, well I've finished my career and think I have been a good teacher & colleague, I think I've been a more than decent stepfather to the 2 kids and I saw Blackburn win the Premier League. I now want a long happy retirement.
What is your favourite:
Band?
So many Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Beach Boys, The Smiths to name a few.
Album?
Again so many, "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" by Lucinda Williams takes some beating.
Film?
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
TV Programme?
South Park has everything, indiscriminate in its victims and as irreverent as you like. In its 12th season now and still as good as ever.
Dinner Guest?
Captain Beefheart would be a good one, my grandparents who I never met and maybe my real mother who I have never been able to trace.
Meal?
Thai food, spicy as you like. I could live on it.
Celebrity partner?
Debbie Harry as she was in 1981 in a skimpy sexy oufit, fishnets and lots of red lipstick. Easy to please. She was gorgeous and slightly dangerous at the same time.
Football:
Who is your favourite Blackburn player ever?
Top 5 Shearer, Garner, Tugay, Friedel, Duff in no particular order
Who is your favourite current Blackburn player?
Has to be the magnificently gifted, 38 year old Turk.
What was your first football match? Score? Where was it? ect
I don't actually remember the first one but I did see Manchester United win at Ewood in 1965.
Your favourite Blackburn memory?
Has to be the day at Anfield when we won the league and all the Liverpool fans became Blackburn supporters for the day as we prevented United from taking the trophy.
Your worst Blackburn memory?
Getting relegated to the old third divison when we were beaten at home by Millwall in front of about 5,000 fans sometime in the mid 70s.
Opposition player you love to despise?
Need you ask? The racist Bowyer
Best goal you've ever seen live?
Le Tissier scored 1 at Ewood in 2-3 defeat for Southampton, I just stood up and clapped I couldn't believe he'd done it.
Worst blunder you've ever seen live?
Everytime Jay Bothroyd came on the pitch whilst at Blackburn. God he was poo.
Do you play for a team yourself? Who are they? What league are you in?
Not with my new hip. I gave up football in my mid 20s but played squash & tennis most of my life. At the moment it's down to cycling and swimming. I've always tried to keep fit.
RHF:
Why did you join RHF?
Stumbled across it that first day looking for a place to discuss football and found myself as only the 2nd member. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Who is your favourite RHF member and why?
You're all good
What is your favourite thread on RHF?
Saint Tim used to have a regular one with football babes that was pretty good. Tend to find myself gravitating towards the Players Lounge a lot these days.
In a fight to the death between you, Bismarck, Stealth and thefullback, who would come where and why?
A draw all 4 of us would kick monkey's out of each other have a pint and the fullback would do some graphics, Bismarck would do some cutting and pasting, Stealth would have a theory and I wouldn't take it seriously.
Questions from the Members:
What was your first impression of RHF when you joined and what made you join and stick with the place?
How young the others who joined were, but they weren't daft and I enjoyed the company
If you could have one wish to improve the world what would it be?
I think I'd try and picture the conflict that could be avoided if religion wasn't part of the equation.
Whats the crack with Turkey? Why are you there and all that?
It was a holiday destination which we both loved, 4 years ago we invested in a property here and then did some sums and decided we could retire if we moved out here.
Relatives of my family say "The Turkish" are bloody mad!". Is there any truth in this perception?
They're certainly different, the local reaction to the recent performances in the Euros illustrated that. There's good and bad everywhere I'm always wary of stereotypes.
Are you proud to be the first ever regular member on RHF?
Of course, I've enjoyed my time on here and feel that I have posted reasonably well.
Paul Ince? What are your opinions on his appointment?
Jury's out you know. it could go either way but I'm reasonably confident, it's a well run club and he'll be given every support. The English black manager thing is of no importance although the press won't see it that way.
