England's 23-man squad for the World Cup finals:
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham).Defenders: Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).
Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City).
Forwards: Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).
Well, what do we think? Apart from Carrick who, without being biased, I would have replaced with Huddlestone, it's pretty much as expected. Walcott may be a bit of a surprise but he suffers from the same fault as Lennon had in the past - his final ball is not what it should be.

I would've replace Ledley King with Ryan Shawcross and SWP with Matt Etherington.
On the whole it's a balanced squad and capable of winning the trophy.

Quarter finalists again. Assuming Argentina win Group A, England are going to lose to one of the Group A or Group B teams?

Expect France to win Group A (Argentina being in Group B ) and I can see that one being a firm test. Before that though, we could well come up against Serbia in the second round who won their qualifying group comfortably. We had to be paired up with the group that finished second in the applications for 'Group of Death'!

I've got Argentina 1st in their group, but losing out to Germany in the 1/4s. As far as we go, I have us winning the group, beating the Aussies and Mexico in the 2nd round and 1/4s, before losing to Brazil in the Semis. Spain to win the thing for me, vs. Brazil,

Sporadic appearances in experimental sides aren't actual chances. So much for Capello picking players on form.
