Lets do an either/or
Gary Lineker or Aidrian Chiles Mark Lawrenson or Jim Belgin Guy Mowbray or Matt Smith Johnathan Pearce or Peter Drury Alan Hansen or Robbie Earle Emanuel Adebayor or Marcel Desailly Alan Shearer or Andy Townsend Mick McCarthy or Iain Dowie
From the matches shown on ITV that I watched, Chiles wasn't the problem: he was enthusiastic, interesting and a good anchor. It was the co-presenters who let the ITV side down: Gareth Southgate and Keven Keegan were both downbeat, passionless and boring to listen to right from the start: Southgate, before the England USA match, said it didn't really matter whether we beat them or not! Gee - get behind your team, why dontcha?! And the match commentators weren't a patch on the Beeb's - don't blame Chiles, blame the whole package.

Have to agree with that poster but he should have included Andy Townsend in the boring comment. Also think the adverts give them a disadvantage before they even start. To top it all the Beeb still has the trust of the public to cover events like this professionally and they have the reputation to get pundits of the stature of Seedorf, Klinsmann, Redknapp & Hodgson.
What chance did ITV have against that line up?
Henry Kissinger: (1923 - )"In this world it is often dangerous to be an enemy of the United States, but to be a friend is fatal."

We would have benefited all round with Savage and Holloway
