Capello bemoans disallowed goalIt would not have mattered...they were shocking... At the half it should have been 2-2. I am not sure it would have mattered though. After seeing the group games it looked as though England were a bit tired near the end of every one of them. If Germany continues to improve over the next week with defence and then plays Argentina, you may want to get your popcorn ready. This is hands down the best German side in 12 years and with alot of the other top teams showing their age I am not sure anyone will be able to stop the Germans in 2014. I have my doubts about them reaching the final this year but be warned, in 2014 they will run wild and dominate in every aspect of the game. As for the English, they have had a long year with so many games and they deserve a rest.

Appaling performance. Defensively naive time after time after time. What makes anyone think that Rooney is world class? He can't perform on a world stage. Nobody in the entire side with a trace of panache. Germany could've had 3 more, the goal line thing is just not relevant.
The worst thing is that there is no new generation now that this one has proved itself to be woefully inadequate. Where do you go from here? Given Cappello's record in everything that he has touched before this job and the reources he has been provided with is it possible for anyone to manage England footballers to success?
I saw Wright-Philips again and I vomited.

Woeful defending cost us the game, the wing backs lacked positional defence and didn't keep tabs with opposition players. Glenn Quagmire would've been more effective.
What next for England? Many of the players who got on the plane to South Africa will be past their best. Start from scratch and have a team based on players who are likely to feature in the Brazil World Cup, should England qualify.

where can i start, SHOCKING, played very narrow, played same team where we looked average against slovenia, gerrard on he LEFT??
i know alot of people are blaming the players, sure rooney looked pooe and not his normal self, but im sure the players dont choose to play so narrow, im afraid we need to look at capello... is he really the man for the job, does he really know the players.
We really need to appoint a manager who has actually managed in this country, not necessarly english, but had got the managing experience from the english leagues.
Stewart Pearce?? what about him, the next competition im sure will need new faces and who had been successfully managin the Under 21 side?? can he really do worse??

Agree with that Stokie. Pearcie had great success with the U-21's and apart from that, therefore also knows them very well and who is likely to make the step up. As Hodgson is now going to Liverpool and, hopefully, Redknapp will stay with us (although I'm a bit worried about that) Pearcie is the obvious choice because Capello has to go. How, when 1-2 down, did he decide to take off our only natural goal scorer & bring on Heskey? And why couldn't he see, when the rest of the country could, that Gerrard is so much better in his Liverpool position? As for playing Upson instead of Ledley when he was fit again - that just beggars belief! As for Rooney, on this World Cup showing, I have to agree with Arover. One can only think he was still carrying an injury as his touch was poorer than Heskey on a bad day but, if that was the case, why was he in the team?

The Germans outclassed us, yes Lampard's goal clearly crossed the line but aside from that every time they attacked our defence was sliced apart and they were liable to score. Embarrassing defending from Terry and Upson in particular made us a laughing stock but take nothing away from the Germans, they were outstanding.
Should Capello stay or go? I would love to get rid of him because despite the players letting themselves down he is just as much to blame with his rigid tactics, disciplinarian management style and insistence on playing Heskey, ignoring Cole etc. as well as other almost unfathomable personnel decisions. However, I can't see who could replace him and because the idiotic FA removed the break clause in his contract it would cost us far too much to pay him off... Well played FA yet another decision which the whole of the country can see was wrong with regards to an England manager and which anyone with even a modicum of business sense is mocking, they really are a joke...
