After 14 years of trying, Welsh Premier League side The New Saints (a merged team of Oswestry Town and Llansantffraid) have progressed to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League after beating Eircom League side Bohemians 4-0. www.saints-alive.co.uk/index.php/component/content/article/42-rokstories/634-tns-v-bohemians-live-updatesI was in attendance for this game, all I can is what a game! The 4-0 scoreline was harsh on Bohemians as they pressed very hard for a goal and had several chances, but last ditch defending and heroic goalkeeping kept the Ireland team at bay. 3 of the TNS goals came from the break with an accurate pass to each of the goalscorers. Shame the next round will be likely to be played at Wrexham, the 3g pitch is a massive advantage to TNS. Imagine them playing in the group stages of the European League. If a Welsh team managed to do it on a regular basis, Welsh football could actually prosper.

Anderlecht in the next round as well, one historic moment in welsh continental football comming right up
Watched the highlights on SSN last night, well taken goals, just wished i could have gone!!
It would be wonderfull to have a welsh side regually getting into the UCL 3rd round qualifing or even the group stages, it will work wonders for the welsh game... TNS facing the likes of Inter or AC milan, Barcelona, Bayen Munich, porto etc
a few seasons of this, you cant imagain the outcome, but the prospects are huge, not to mention money and regular success may even open up more european spots as time goes on
TNS is on our doorstep almost, the Shropshire STAR, our local daily paper lists TNS as a local team and usually does regular reports!!!
Good luck to TNS against Anderlecht, i can sence a whole nation rooting for them!!

Sadly I won't be there, shame really as it would've been good to continue witnessing TNS fairytale dream.

Unfortunately TNS have succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Anderlecht, would require a ruthless approach from TNS in the 2nd leg to have any chance of making the playoff round.
