1) FIFA decide not to have goal line technology and, twice on the same day, are proved totally wrong.
2) The FA decide to renew Capello's contract just before the World Cup (instead of waiting to see how we do) thus costing themselves around £10m in compensation when they are forced to sack him.
Would any member of the footballing public have made either of these decisions? I seriously doubt it as they have more knowledge of the game than the cretins who currently comprise these two "august" bodies.

Prior to the World Cup, England won 9 out of 10 qualifying games, which might explain the hot property in Fabio.
I admire Fabio for wanting to carry on with the England job and I'm willing for him to have a second chance, the worse he can do is not qualify for Euro 2012 and even that is unlikely.

Even though I totally disagreed with his selections for most of the matches (and definitely against Germany) I suspect that he will remain in charge because the FA can never admit to having made a mistake.
I also think FIFA will probably try having the two extra linesman before giving in to the rest of the world who want technology. I saw many of the Europa League matches using the extra officials & it was hardly an unqualified success there being one particularly disastrous decision made by them (can't remember what match or what it was for now though!).

Absolute joke of authorities, both of them. The FA's decisions over the past 20 years from forcing Robson and Venables out, appointing McClaren, removing Fabio''s break clause, ignoring various reports bemoaning the state of grass roots Football and coaching to constantly pandering to the Premier League, various sponsors and FIFA have been criminal, as an organisation they are inherently flawed and need a massive overhaul.
FIFA and Blatter don't even deserve a rant...

The main problem with using technology is what can it be used for?
Whilst goal-line decisions might be used for goals, someone might pile pressure to use the same technology for offside decisions, infrigements etc.
Since Ghana are wanting penalty goals to be enforced because of Suarez handballing on the line, where do you draw the line? Whats to say the only defender might deliberately hold back a striker whos on the verge of a one-on-one opportunity in and around the penalty spot. Does that warrant a penalty goal?
Technology works in other sports because a portion of play has stopped when a decision is reviewed or a race has ended. Football is a game of continuity, it's bad enough when players are feigning for injury and wanting the ball kicked out of play, to stop play for any length of time because of a controversial decision is only going to damage the integrity of the beautiful game.

Depends how far you intend to go with it. I agree that I wouldn't want to see any more stoppages introduced as the fact that it is a flowing game without all the stops & starts of rugby is why I preferred it in the first place. However, goal line technology can be reviewed in a matter of seconds &, if it didn't cross the line - no problem the game just keeps going and, of it did cross the line the ref blows up & you start from kick off.
TBH I think more delays are coming in to football because of the ridiculous rules on what constitutes a "fair" tackle nowadays. I lost count of the number that were given as fouls at the World Cup despite the player clearly getting the ball and only momentum carrying him in to the opposing player. For God's sake - it's supposed to be a man's game!
