It's unfair for football teams/players to change balls midway through a season for a tournament. If Adidas really wanted the ball to be a success, then at least the ball should've been used at the start of World Cup Qualifying.
Ideally if the World Cup ball is to be used at domestic level, it should've been used at the start of last season. I Imagine the majority of domestic competitions in the world have official ball suppliers, for example Nike supply the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga and Mitre supply the Football League and SPL. Would it be feasible for Adidas to compensate the other matchball suppliers and supply so many footballs?
To design a matchball using different technology and for all players to only have a handful of friendlies/training sessions prior to a major tournament smacks of incompetence.

I think the FA should have jumped at the chance, but the players are being ridiculous.
A ball is a ball is a ball, I literally laughed out loud at that person who claimed that it was "too round"!
Smacks of yet another excuse to go along with the vuvus and the pitches!

I tend to agree Joe - after all these are "world class" footballers. However, they really do seem to be having a problem with it as I've never seen so many over hit passes let alone the freekicks that would be more at home on a rugby pitch.

That's true, although surely after, what, at least 3/4 weeks with the ball, they should be able to control it better now?

That's true, although surely after, what, at least 3/4 weeks with the ball, they should be able to control it better now? One thing that no human can control is trajectory, the simplest of passes can result the ball to bobble. Whenever a long ball is pumped, the ball stays in the air and it's difficult for a player to fully control it. Maybe the players will get used to the ball once the tournament progresses but top players don't become rubbish overnight.

Got to laugh at the Kaiser though...what a star.. He should also look up the word 'Foreigner' in the dictionary, giving that Podolski, Klose, Trochowski are actually Polish and Cacau is Brazilian!!

Finally they do seem to be getting used to the ball as there have been a few fantastic shots that have hit the woodwork in the last couple of days.
