Would it not make some kind of sense for the winner of the Europa League to qualify for the Champion's League for the following season. I recognize that the UCL is supposed to be for the top ranked teams based on league performance, but the UEL is still a difficult tournament to win (as we can see given that Juventus and Valencia couldn't make the semi finals but will still qualify for UCL based on league performance). I think that the finalists of the UEL should qualify for the UCL qualification rounds. If each league is given a quota of teams that qualify each year then when not do the same for the UEL? It would open up the possibility that some teams would be able to earn a berth that would normally not exist for them depending on their domestic league...
Expect a Liverpool-Fulham final.I think a reasonable bet: Anfield advantage for Liverpool, and Hodgson has a record of pulling off big must-win results. In the final I can't see past a Liverpool victory.

Not another argument for getting those scousers into the Champions League via the back door.

i do like the idea of Champs league qualification for the winners of the uefa cup (yes i know its not called that any more) because at the end of the day, they are a champion and possibly have more of a right in being there than say a 4th placed team
i do think the whole european quotas need to be looked at in general, but that will never happen as its all about the money

I believe if a team wins the Europa League but fails to qualify for next years tournament, they can't defend their title. Just found out that the Europa League final is to be held at Hamburg, who are Fulhams opponents in the semis Would the final be moved to another venue should Hamburg make the final?

I think that rule was changed this year Henry when they changed it to the Europa League - the winner now qualifies for next years tournament. Tend to agree with Otto though - that they should get a place in the Champion's League - as this competition is going from strength to strength in the last couple o years and the football is, IMHO, very nearly on a par with the Champion's League.
Come on Fulham - would just love to see them win it as Hodgson is twenty times the manager that Benitez is and deserves a trophy for the outstanding job he has done at the Cottage.

Just not having it, there's a massive difference betwen league & cup competitions. Why should the winners of one cup competition be granted entry into another cup competition for the following season in which the entry criteria is league position in national leagues?
