What do you feel would be a suitable punishment for the crime of assisted suicide?

If a dog is suffering in pain and doesn't have long to live, it will be likely to be put down by a vet. Same for a racing horse if it gets severely injured in a race.
If a very ill person with no hope of a recovery whatsoever wants to end their life, then they should be allowed to go over to Dignitas.

I think assisted suicide should really be made leagal providing there is a just cause for it,... if we are allowed to have pets put down why not allow ourselves make that decision id need be (agreeing with hoggys statement)
If i ever get to a state that im never going to recover from and have a long slow death, i would rather be put down than suffer.
Although if there isnt a just cause for an assisted suicidea punishment could possibly be handed out.
Ill be honest its a tricky one is this subject!

I think that as long as it remains a crime on the books, then it should be treated as any other murder. However I strongly believe that it should be decriminalised under strictly supervised circumstances upon the request of the terminally ill.

Apart from the obvious argument about us not letting animals suffer in the same position, with world population & NHS costs getting out of control, there are more good reasons for legalising it than there are for keeping the current laws. Having watched someone I loved die from cancer I am certainly of the opinion that I would not want to hang around suffering with no hope of recovering.
