Hi all, Been a nightmare month and a half, long story short, Sky cancelled our broadband because I somehow managed to accumulate 27 viruses on my laptop ( ), and Orange have been feck slow about getting us back online! I'm on Linux now (Ubuntu), and I'm trying to work it out, very different to Windows! Because of that, whilst I'll be able to get back and post on the place again, I'm going to struggle to do anything graphically for a bit (until I figure out how the heck to get Windows Programmes working on Linux!), so if someone wants to take over the graphics side of things for a while (or permanently if you prefer!), that's fine by me! Cheers all, Joe

so sky killed you off coz of viruses on your laptop, sounds like bullpoo if you ask me, if thats the case i should never be allowed a internet connection again from anyone
ahh ubuntu, for picture editing have a look at GIMP or ubuntu studio (which includes GIMP) which is a selection of open source media ultilities
you will also need open office which is compatable with microsoft office
it will be acase of scrawling the internet to find good open source equivelents of microsoft programmes, good luck to you, i hope you get on with it better than i did

I'd be more worried the fact that an ISP knows that one has viruses on a customers computer than the actual viruses attempting to hack into a computer.
As for Orange, their internet service is shocking. My mate is with them and can't acheive a consistent connection, he gets disconnected every hour or two.

I cut it a little short to be fair, someone sent bulk emails from the Sky email account (that's the one we've never actually been on ever!), having hacked in somehow using one of the viruses

If they can't identify that then thats another reason why the governments plans to completely outlaw illegal file sharing won't work.

My cousin said that they'd hacked into the IP address or something... no idea at all to be honest
