With Garry Cooks claims that "[City are], without doubt, going to be the biggest and best football club in the world", the debate over whether it's possible to buy success is sure to reignite.
Personally, I think that City aren't going to see any success.
As much as it seems that the Arabs have infinate money, they haven't, and spending £200M on transfers, and God knows how much on wages is completely unsustainable.
In fact, I think that City want to be careful.
These Arabs could pull out at any time, and if they did, City would be bust within a month.
Furthermore, football is as much about Psychology and team work as it is about players.
What sort of dressing room is it where one person could be on £5k/week, and one on £100k?
An unbalanced one is the answer to that, where massive wage-earning players will be resented by the players on the more 'normal' wages.
So what do you think?
Will City be the biggest club in the world?
Or is it impossible to topple the bigger names?
(Incedentaly, why were Man. City holding a fan's forum in New York? How many fans can they have in the States?!)

Bubble is going to burst sooner or later, the top 4 clubs have financial problems of some sort.
The television money has reached it's peak, in fact the revenue is going down. Setanta couldn't sustain their agreement and therefore don't broadcast in the UK leaving the FA/SPL and Conference with a shortfall. Selling the TV rights overseas, especially in the Far East hasn't been successful viewing figures wise. Question is will Sky be able to offer the same deal?
It's impossible to buy success without sustaining it, it's only going to be a matter of time before PL clubs go into admin and out of business. I can see multiple clubs getting promoted at once to fill the league positions of failed clubs.

The title can be bought, we did it and actually every club that has ever won it has been very well financed si in a sense they all buy it every year even when the Arse won it they just don't spend as much as the others but compared to the middling teams they have shed loads of money. Many have tried unsuccessfully though, notably Liverpool for the last 20 odd years and, don't laugh, Newcastle.

I can see them buying success in the short term but money doesn't buy you history which is as important as current achievements.
I also agree with Henry that the bubble has burst with regard to TV money so it will be much, much harder to make any club pay so, unless you can truly afford the ultimate boy's toy, less people are going to risk their fortunes investing in football.
