Getting knocked out of the Paint Pot Trophy was the reason for McParlands dismissal When you've got upstairs people wanting to make signings of their own (Kasper Schmeichel and Sol Campbell) then thats going to undermine the manager. Fulham, Wigan Athletic and Hull City got promoted from the 4th tier to the top flight by signing the players with Football League experience. County are going wrong by appointing Sven and Tord as Directors/Advisers at this moment in time. Peter Taylor would be a more appropriate Director of Football as he's been there, done that, got the t-shirt at every level.

Why on earth should they care about the Paint Pot Trophy when their ambition is to climb the league? Personally I think you're right about Football League experience at this level (Fulham didn't buy Chris Coleman etc. until in the Championship if I remember rightly?) but changing managers every 5 minutes won't achieve it whoever your players are.

McParland was taking the paint pot trophy seriously. County go 2-1 up in the 85th minute against Bradford and McParland decides to milk it in front of the Bradford support. However Bradford equalise in injury time and win 3-2 on penalties. McParland was foaming in his pre-match interview, Kasper Schmeichel snaps a corner flag, goads to our keeper rubbing his fingers together indicating about his wealth and punches a hole in the away dressing room.

I don't think the PaintPot trophy loss was the reason, as much as Bradford fans would like to think it was. McParland was part of the old Notts County, he didn't fit in with the new, ambitious Notts County run by Sven so it was only a matter of time before he went.

Think you're probably right Luke. Particularly given the rumours about Roberto Mancini that are flying around.
