Got to start a conversation on this, after all England are through to the semi-finals ;D For those who haven't watched any footage, there are some sample highlights. cricket.yahoo.com/cricket/videos/home------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Superb performances by England against Sri Lanka and South Africa. Jimmy Anderson has been on sensational form with the ball, Eoin Morgan with the bat while Collingwood and Shah have batted well in the top order. No reason why England can't go all the way to the final, just a shame the final is on a Monday

Smith has always struck me as a bit of a tosser

Can't decide whos the bigger tosser, Graeme Smith or Ricky Ponting?
India are on the verge of going out and have to thrash West Indies and hope Pakistan beat Australia for the semi finals.
England can afford a narrow defeat to New Zealand to finish top of the group on run rate. But winning all 3 group games would be a massive confidence boost for the semi finals. Just hope Australia do win on Wednesday to setup an Ashes continential final.
BTW whos idea is to have the final on Monday???!!!

Yesterdays pitch was more of a minefield as England went down to New Zealand by 6 wickets.
Spirit of the game has been another talking point. Paul Collingwood was daydreaming as he went out of his crease and got ran out in the final ball of an over. There was a bit of a grey area whether "over" was called, after discussion between the umpires it was officially out. However New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori calls Collingwood back to the crease.
Australia beat Pakistan in a last ball thriller by two wickets. Needing 206 to win, Australia were cruising at 140-3 but step up Mohammed Asif, Saeed Ajmal and Rana Naved to peg the Aussies back. Asif and Ajmal got 2 wickets each while Rana bagged 1 and bowled very tight.
Aussies got to 187-8 and Ricky Ponting looked very nervous. Brett Lee and Nathan Haurtiz steered the Aussies to victory, with the final ball ran for a frantic bye.
Australia will be playing England in the first semi-final on Friday.

Smith is the bigger tosser, we seem to have this mutual respect with Ponting that generally involves us taking the wee

If the England v Aussie semi final is a no result, then Australia go through to the final as they finished top of the group

Smith is the bigger tosser because Ponting has the game to back up his arrogance, Smith is a great player but nothing on Ricky.

Explosive start but the wickets have fallen. Time for Luke Wright and Timmy Bresnan to form a century stand to have any chance of setting a competitive total.

Suicidal run outs late on have costs us, otherwise England would've racked up around 285.
Step up someone to take the bull by the horns.

Insects have stopped play. A plague of insects invading the ground, flying all over the pitch and floodlights haha.

Take nothing away from Ponting/Watson, they batted exceptionally well. A bit mystified to why Luke Wright only bowled 3 overs and Bresnan looked exhausted when he bowled his 2nd spell.
England can only ever learn from this and come back as a better team, the group of players look something special. 18mths until India 2011, enough time for the likes of Joe Denly, Eoin Morgan, Luke Wright, Tim Bresnan and Adil Rashid to become top class players.

Wright went for 18 off 3 overs, and i'd imagine Bresnan was pretty tired after dragging us kicking and screaming when we were determined to let ourselves down in the most dramatic fashion.

It's not The Ashes though. I think England have done well to make the semi finals considering we had a few players missing.
But well done New Zealand for going one further with a depleted squad.

Quite happy with reaching the semis after the abysmal performance against the Aussies pre tournament.
