Brit clubs avoiding the big boys then... That's because all four English teams were seeded despite Arsenal having to play a qualifying match.

There were still tough teams such as Real Madrid and Inter Milan in pot 2 though, whom the English clubs avoided.

Must admit I've lost track of how these competitions work now. For instance, why were Arsenal seeded although they played a qualifying round when Atletico Madrid, who also played one qualifying round, weren't seeded?

Ok, here we go Stealth:
Pot One: Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, AC Milan, Arsenal, Sevilla, Bayern Munich
Pot Two: Lyon, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Porto, AZ Alkmaar, Juventus, Rangers
Pot Three: Olympiakos, Marseille, Dinamo Kiev, Stuttgart, Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid, Bordeaux, Besiktas
Pot Four: Wolfsburg, Standard Liege, Maccabi Haifa, FC Zurich, Rubin Kazan, Unirea Urziceni, APOEL Nicosia, Debreceni
Each group contains one team from each pot and teams from the same country cannot be drawn against each other.
The pots are determined by the performances in European competition over the past few seasons (4 or 5 years I think) with increasing precedence given to the most recent seasons. The number of qualifying rounds played matters not as does domestic performances. Hence why the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and AC are in Pot 1, they have done very well in the Champions League in the past few seasons. Real Madrid and Inter haven't done so well, so they are in Pot 2 and Atletico Madrid, who have done next to nothing in Europe recently are in Pot 3.
Hope that helps Stealth.

Cheers Luke. I knew there must be a simple way to work it all out.
Shame EUFA haven't found it!

Man Utd are not in the easiest league and theres a chance of them not going beyond the group stages. CSKA Moscow away won't be easy, Porto are tough opposition and Wolfsburg aren't mugs.
