Gosh I like this JPT lark. Chrissy Brandon equalises in the 90th minute for Bradford against Nottingham County and we beat the County 3-2 on penalties ;D
City deserved to go through as they wanted it more, in contrast Sven and his puppet McParland felt he and the players just had to turn up in order to go through. Loanee keeper Simon Eastwood makes a hero for himself by saving two penalties and deflating the ego of Kasper Schimichel, thats what you call a result. Don't know how Kasper is a pro footballer, he's simply living off his fathers reputation. Seen better keepers in non league football and I feel sorry for Russell Hoult who has done little wrong in 18 months at Notts County for him to be shipped out on loan to Darlington.
Bring on the quarter final draw!

Comfortable victory for Charlton 4-1, if we take this competition seriously we could even win it...

JOHNSTONE'S PAINT TROPHY - QUARTER-FINAL DRAW
Northern Section: Leeds v Grimsby Accrington/Shrewsbury v Bury Bradford v Port Vale Chesterfield v Carlisle
Southern Section: Milton Keynes Dons v Northampton Leyton Orient v Hereford Swindon v Norwich Southampton v Charlton
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As i said in 'General Discussion', a tough draw for us away to Southampton but if we play our best football there is no reason why we can't win it. To be honest I would have preferred any other team in the southern section (apart from maybe MK Dons) but what can you do. Should be a good match at least.

MK Dons vs The Cobblers! That could be a bit meaty.

Pleased with another home draw, however Port Vale is a tricky game as they beat both Sheffield clubs in the Carling Cup, forced Scunthorpe to extra time and beat Stockport in the 2nd round of JPT.
Could be worse I suppose, Chesterfield away or Leeds.

It's about time we stuffed the plastic twats down the road. We've played them twice in competitive games and have put in two shambolically embarassing performances.

Southampton 2 - 2 Norwich
(Southampton win 6-5 in penalty shoot-out)
Bartosz Bialkowski saved three spot-kicks as Southampton beat Norwich 6-5 in a sudden death penalty shoot-out to make the JP Trophy Southern area final.
Papa Waigo N'Diaye had given Southampton the lead when he shrugged off Gary Doherty to fire home.
Doherty rifled in an equaliser from close range but Chris Martin tapped in to put Norwich in front.
Dan Harding equalised in injury time and it was left to substitute Wayne Thomas to score the decisive kick.
Norwich manager Paul Lambert was unhappy with the referee's handling of an incident between Grant Holt and Michail Antonio, seconds before Saints' equaliser, when the Norwich man claimed he was slapped.
Paul Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk:
"The referee gave an absolutely inept performance.
"That should have been a sending off. Alan (Pardew, Southampton boss) says the same, and the game would have been dead.
"How he turns round and can't see that beggars belief. It was a woeful, woeful decision.
"Football can be really cruel at time, we deserved to go through. Alan said the same."

Pardew admits Saints struggled to win
Alan Pardew was delighted his side made it through the tense penalty shootout against Norwich – but admitted Saints hadn’t played particularly well.
The Saints boss was in a fairly reflective rather than bullish mood after his side progressed through the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area semi-final to book themselves a two-legged match against MK Dons for the right to play Leeds or Carlisle at Wembley.
Though the fans were hugely excited, Pardew was reflecting on a tie where he was a little disappointed with his team’s overall display – even if not the final result in the end.
He said: “There’s not many games where we haven’t played well this season but this was one if I’m honest.
“But we go on – we will play better than that and lose.
“It was nice to win and not play well."

What a pulsating game! There isn't a better feeling than equalising in injury time and winning the game on penalties, well played Saints.
Dreams of an all West Yorkshire area final and Wembley are shattered, feel absolutely devastated.
