I'm talking the 'main' sports here. Like Football, Crickat, tennis and the like. Which is the hardest in your opinion. * Anyone who makes any filthy jokes aboput hard sports is an official immature knob

Snooker is absolutely solid, the pockets are tiny and your positional game has to be spot on.

Snooker is absolutely solid, the pockets are tiny and your positional game has to be spot on. That was the first sport that came to my mind too. I've been playing tonight - you only truly realise just how hard the game is when you play yourself. My highest break of the night was 9, yet O'Sullivan and the likes can smack in centuries in minutes.

But it's not the most physically demanding is it?

Rugby League, very demanding physically, running up and down the pitch for 80 minutes whilst taking big hits starts to hurt after a while, not technically difficult but demanding

I'd go for rugby league as well - first thing that came to my mind when I saw the thread title.

I've always thought some form of Rugby. Probably League as it is more 'active' than Union which i find very stop start.
Cricket is also tough. It's physically demanding standing in the field all day and batting is very technical and complex and just generally difficult.

League may be fast, it isn't as demanding as Union though.
I feel we're ignoring things like oh... the marathon etc'

I suppose it depends on what you mean by hardest - most physically challenging, requires the most skill, most difficult to understand?
I would agree that Union is more demanding than League as it is much more technical and strategic as well as being physically tough. Although the hits may be harder in League (and i'm not convinced that they are), don't underestimate the physically demanding nature of rucks, mauls and scrums which League don't have.
Snooker is a good call as well, so tricky it is unreal.

Ben makes a good point about the marathon though. Must be so physically draining, same goes for Triathlons etc.

I'd be tempted to say Yank Football except it requires very little stamina. Still, I'll bet being blindsided by a 275lb Linebacker moving like a freight train is no walk in the park, padding or no padding.

How fast can Joe Bloggs dressed as Spiderman complete the marathon? Could he do it if he ran at the pace of an elite runner?
If we're talking in terms of skill as well... then Golf is up there. At least in Snooker you always have a flat lie and the hole isn't 450 yards away.

I'm thinking of the most difficult all round sport.
So like, Physical, Mental, Tactical, Stamina levels

In that case Rugby is quite possibly the hardest then.

I would be inclined to agree with that Ben. If there weren't three separate teams in American Football then i would say that but the point about stamina, as players can have a rest rules it out imo.

Cricket by a country mile - batsmen and bowlers need to have so many batting/bowling selections to get runs/wickets. Keeping is physically demanding too, requires concentration for every ball, lightning reflexes for catches/stumpings and doesn't do the thighs/knees a lot of good.
Bowling like Andrew Flintoff yesterday requires a lot of nerve, strength, stamina and accuracy. Bowl badly and you will get badly punished.

The glaring ommission here is cycling, the demands both physical and mental, which are placed on the athlete in for instance the Tour de France, are so great that few can contemplate it without chemical help.

Yeah - i got lucky. Dartford, Bexley Village, Crayford, Bexleyheath and even half of Welling (the town i live in) all lost power but my road must be on a different circuit so i have had full power. Some has come back on now but a lot of people still haven't got any, i'm finding it all pretty hilarious as quite a few of my mates have been moaning about being bored.
Apparently caused by a fire behind the Arriva bus garage in Dartford - my guess would be bored kids mucking about with fire and it got out of hand - twats.

Not sure about MMA - looks like a lot of grappling on the floor to me. I'm sure it is physically demanding but for tactical nous and reflexes it is not in the same league as Boxing imo.

Cant have that, its hardly a demanding sport yes you have to be alert but its not very physically demanding.I would agree that snooker is much more demanding mentally than cricket. On the other hand i would say F1 is far more demanding than most sports mentioned. You need to be super fit & you have to be super alert mentally, otherwise you could die or risk serious injury.
