If they limit it to under 21's it's hardly a "full" international competition is it? If they don't I think it's rather churlish of the Scottish, Welsh & Northern Irish FA's to gainsay it as they have been told by FIFA it will not affect their status for other competitions. Not trying to wind anybody up but is it because they don't think any of their players would be good enough to be in it?

It really annoys me mate..In every other Olympic sport which we participate in there is a GB team, made up from a squad of players/competitors who have done what is necessary to qualify. Why should football be any different? I see no reason to use it as some sort of rallying call for nationalism. Were we (Wales) an independent nation then we would undoubtedly have our own side, and no doubt we would fail to get out of the group stages...lol

Good point actually Tyler. May be it would be better if the Olympic team was the U-21's.

The Olympics is effectively the U23 World Cup. The Scots, Welsh and Irish FA are selfish for not allowing their players to form Team GB. Theres some good players coming through their respective age groups and they would gain valuable experience by playing against the likes of Argentina and Brazil.

So let me get this straight, despite all the FIFA and UEFA bashing that goes on in here, we should believe that they will keep their word and not try and force us to play as the same team in future international tournaments? Aye right you are, they aren't trustworthy which is why the rest of the nations are correct to say chase yourself. England have no right to field their own team for this as it will play under the Team GB banner and that is just a no-no.
