Karim Benzema is poised to become the latest big-name arrival at Real Madrid after Lyon accepted a bid from the Spanish side for the highly-rated France international.
The 21-year-old is set to join Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo in signing a six-year contract at the Bernabeu after his French employers agreed to a 35m euro (£29.7m) approach from Madrid, who with this deal will see their summer spending spree pass the 200m euro mark.

I know our tradition has something to do with it as well, I just don't see as much joy in destroying everyone else because we can out-spend them. All we need now is Ribery, and we are set. HALA MADRID!...lol

£167m on three players - and Blatter is still going on about the premiership!

Paper teams don't win anything, yes they can score but would you take that team over the work ethic and skill of Barca for example

And the manager still has to get them all to gel together anyway.

I really don't get where all Real's money is coming from, merchandise will only get you so far, there has to be some dodgy banking going on.
Talk about the premier league ruining football, its more like Real and Barca doing that with ridiculous fees and everyone wanting to join them

And I haven't seen either Blatter or Platini say a word about either - but they are still harping on about the Premier League.

Will they also be dropping their idea of a max of 5 foreign players in a Champions League team now as well? Both Real & Barca would end up sending out a reserve team if they don't.

It'll end in tears, the pressure to succeed will just be too great.

35 million in revenue off Ronaldo alone...easy money.

I'd be prepared to bet he doesn't make as much for them as Becks though - nowhere near as likeable character.

I agree there.

Is anyone else hoping this all of these signings fail to gel and Real Madrid lose the league again, or is it just me? A team of good players doesn't necessarily equal a good team.

No you're not the only one Sam. I don't think it's good for football as a whole (although they will probably be great to watch) so I'm also hoping it doesn't work.
