He has now equalled Pete Sampras' 14 Grand Slams but... he's won the French Open, something that Sampras didn't accomplish.

I think undoubtedly he is. Not only has he equalled Sampras record but he's done it with real grace & finesse in his game - not just power.

I'm not sure you can say he is the best of all time, there are now 6 that have won all 4 and Laver has a very persuasive case.
Federer is certainly up there though and for me above Sampras.

Laver was a grass player and 3 off the 4 slams used to be on Grass back then if that was case how many GS would Sampras have won 20 at least maybe even nearing the 30 mark

Probably not the greatest ever for me. Up there, yes. Better than Sampras, yes but i would rate Laver higher overall. Federer is superb but it will have hurt him slightly that he didn't beat Nadal to win his first French Open.

After all these years have passed both Laver & Borg are still 3rd equal for the total number of wins. In fact, in the open era, Borg is still second behind Sampras & Federer.

I think he is purely because of the amount of time left he has to trounce all the records. He really is a sublime tennis player.
