BBC article: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/8075713.stmYet more upheaval at St. James'. Can't see them getting out of the Championship at the first time of asking but I won't rule it out. Still, with with a chairman with the club's interest at heart, a manager who the fans will back no matter what and lowered expectations from the fans (which they should have now) they'll be back soon enough.

That's already £20m more than was being quoted last week and I'll bet it is plus any existing debts. Not cheap for a Championship club.

Especially a Championship club without it's own stadium!

It looks like Newcastle won't be returning to the Premier League next season. Today, it is not easy to find a person who is willing to buy this club for 100 million pounds. He will not get instant profit because he has to find ways to deal with the club's debts and staff's wage bill. He has to find a strong and experience manager that can make the club goes forward. The next owner and manager have a huge challenge in front of them. The number of supporters will slowly turn their back to the club if they failed to be in the top league next season...
I do wonder though that surely the only reason the club is for sale at that price is because the global economy is in ruin; NUFC is a massive investment opportunity?

You're obviously right Otto as Newcastle still have massive potential. However, you're also right about the problems a new owner would be facing - and they are daunting!

read this on a sunderland forum the other day, aparently it was taken from some newcastle message board or something.
this is just from a football forum so could be just total bullpoo but if it's anywhere near the truth then newcastle are in the poo and any potential buyer should be very put off.

Still , there have a very good fan base , 3rd highest attendance in the Prem last season I believe , any potential owners would most definitely make their money back IMO

Agree with Nick. Whoever takes over will have to have put their hands deep in to their pockets and eep them there for at least two or three seasons but, at the end of that, their fan base should see them secure again. As long as the new owner runs it better than Ashley & can get rid of the joke club tag.

That paints an absolute nightmare scenario.
