news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8032371.stmAs many of us on here thought they have run in to trouble already and the rumours surrounding their finances are not good. Will they survive and, if not, what will happen to the matches they signed up to broadcast? Could it be another ITV Digital disaster?

I am pleased that I never subscribed to Setanta and loathe ITV's coverage of football which is very poor...
Give it all to the BBC and Sky.Their coverage is far superior to Andy Townsend and co!

Except for Alan Parry I'd agree with that.

Hopefully Setanta will go bust and the Football and Boxing they have can return to decent channels instead.

I'd say that's looking fairly likely as their subscriber numbers would have been reduced anyway because of the smaller number of matches they have next year. With the recession bound to have an effect as well, it can't bode well.
Mind you I'd rather see Sky go bust as they're part of Murdoch's huge empire and have a virtual monopoly. Setanta are at least closer to home being Irish.

So I wonder who will pick up their deals? Would love it to be the Beeb but can't see it so suppose either ITV will, although they are none too flush either, or Sky?

As long as the FA Cup goes back to its rightful home - the BBC and Sky.

Sky put so much commitment to the NFL (and so they should - superb sport), so i guess they couldn't justify any real amount of Baseball, Ice Hockey or Basketball - more minority sports which would require scheduling commitments and probably aren't that cheap as well.
