www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1392670,00.html his regained a bit of dignity with that statement, however i still cant forgive him because of his actions, plus the fact we never wanted big money players just KK to have full control still the cockney maffia has gone ;D.

"I bought Newcastle United in May 2007. Newcastle attracted me because everyone in England knows that it has the best fans in football. When the fans are behind the club at St James' Park it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. It is magic. Newcastle's best asset has been, is and always will be the fans."

The irony of this all is the fact that Kevin Keegan actually isn't -that- good of a manager.. you'd think he'd just sacked a title winning manager or something.

Got a paragraph into the statement before ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Correct me if I'm wrong......
He bought NUFC, but wasn't told that all sponsorship had been paid up front, so he's got nought coming in, and gazillions going out.
He has single handedly stopped NUFC becoming L666s (*spit*) United II
Because of sacking Keegan, he feels he is not safe at NUFC anymore so is stopping subsidising the club.
He has put the club up for sale and taken his bat n ball home.
Chris Mort is now putting the toys back in his pram.
In summary Ashley thinks the Geordies are FIK.

Not a very good businessman if he didn't know about the sponsorships paying up front - although that's an unusual deal,

Didn't he only pay £250m or something like that? And it's only got worse since he bought it.

481 mil for that lump of pooe?!?!
Who in their right mind would pay that?
Seriously...their fans are deluded and fickle....they all want a very bad manager who they claim is their "messiah".....they have a lot of debt apparently....the list goes on.

There are certainly more attractive business propositions in the Premiership - Everton probably being the prime one.

If someone put money into Everton they'd definately challenge for the top 4. Moyes has worked wonders with a small budget and for me he's one of the best in the league.

mike ashley says his not in it for the money and the trys to sell the club for 481 million, somewhere near the 250-300 million mark is realistic as we have no debt and he paid 144 million last year when were in tonnes of it.
Now as i said 250-300 million is realistic and apparentely got offered 180 million last night and asked for 480 million although the source is hardly reliable.

Ashley wants to turn a profit here, but I'm not sure what he's thinking. He bought something, added next to nothing in terms of value, drove away the supporters' favorite manager and now wants to see a return on his investment. He should count himself lucky just to have someone pick up his payments.

May be not in a rising market but this is hardly that what with the financial world's turmoil. Will anyone want to lend against a club on the slide? If not, not too many people have £481m in their back pocket.

From the BBC news site:-
Mr Ashley - who bought the club for £134m in May 2007 - had been offering to bankroll the club to the tune of £20m a year. In his emotional statement putting the club up for sale he also said he had paid off £110m of debt and was still paying the debt. However the 43-year-old admitted in a club magazine article that he did not carry out due diligence on the club and its debts before his takeover, which was completed in just five days. When he did look at the books - of a club which had net debts of £70m in 2007 - he found that it owed £27m in transfers and had taken its major sponsorship payments upfront rather than in instalments.

This whole farce is going to destroy your season before it's even got started Andy. Ashley will never sell for that price so was it all just a gesture to shut up the fans banging on about "The Messiah"?
