Wrexham made heavy work of seeing off an Oxford United side who had Luke Foster sent off after just 11 minutes.
Foster pulled back Shaun Whalley in the area, but Jake Cole managed to keep out Jefferson Louis' penalty kick.
Steve Evans broke through on the half-hour, before stooping to head Wrexham into the lead from a corner.
Only a fine save from Dragons stopper Gavin Ward denied Lewis Haldane a U's equaliser, before Louis sealed a home win late on with a low right-foot shot.
