We have today been contacted by Kevin Lamb the press officer at Grays Athletic who has advised us that our former midfielder Ernie Cooksey has now slipped into a coma as he continues his battle against the cancer known as Malignant Melanoma. We are led to believe that his family and girlfriend Louise, who is expecting their first baby in 5 weeks, are at his side in the hospital and that he is no longer in pain.
Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes go to Ernie and his family at this time.

At least his suffering will be over now. Incredibly sad though especially for the baby.

We had a minutes silence at the ground yesterday totally observed..... Minutes applause at Boundary Park, will be the same at the Rochdale game next week. By the way, his baby was born on July 3rd, a healthy girl named Isobella Georgina Cooksey.
