No IMO, the 99 side was far better - this side has the potential to be better mind.

It's obvious what I'm going to say - neither compare with the Spurs double team or the 1974 Dutch World Cup team.

The best side that I have ever seen was the 1970 Brazilian side with Pele, Jairzinho, Gerson, Tostao, Rivelino and Carlos Alberto. Funnily enough I can't remember the names of any of the defenders as they didn't matter. They were truly magical and this was enhanced by the fact that they we had not seen most of them plying their trade before and all of a sudden in the middle of the night we were seeing these amazing footballers who left you gasping in admiration. Unsurpassable. I agree that the 1974 Dutch team were very good also the '94 Brazilians that got knocked out by, I think France. The best club side I can remember was the AC Milan side that won the European Cup a couple of times and numerous Scudetos featuring Gullit, Rijkaard and the imperious Van Basten. This United side have the capacity to be very good but if they lose their talisman, which is looking increasingly likely, then the step to greatness may be one too far.

This is not remotely the best team ever. Potential yes but 1 European Cup on pens and 1 Prem League on the last day is not even close to being the greatest ever. As i said, they could be but not yet...
