The 2007/2008 season will end like it started - with Chelsea and Manchester United scrapping for bragging rights as the best team in England. United have won the Premier League but for both clubs the Champions League holds a greater significance.......

Impossible to call. Chelsea have the edge in terms of size and power. But United have the edge in terms of skill. How the coaches deploy the sides will be pivotal. Perhaps, ultimately, it will be the side with the greater team spirit and togetherness who will edge it. At the moment that points to United. We shall see.

I'm going to opt for Chelsea, i think they'll really be hurting from the Premier League lost and will be wanting to prove a point and win something for the fans.

I will personally go for Manchester United - SAF said that Cristiano Ronaldo is hungry for success in this match and is desperate for the win, I'll expect him to be in top notch form and providing he doesn't go missing as he usually does in the big matches then Manchester United are a sure fire bet for success.

I'm going for a 2-0 win for United. Tevez and Nani will score the goals. Ronaldo will have an average game but set up one of the goals.
Reasons: United will have their tails up after winning the Prem and have a lot more depth than Chelsea. Chelsea will give it a good go but I can't see them beating United. United have far more experience when it comes to the Champions League.

I also think it's far too hard to call but my instinct tells me Chelsea.
I wouldn't put too much money on it though.

I only hope it's a 1000% better than last years FA Cup final - or the Prems status as best league in the world will really suffer.

United for me - they play the better football and will outclass Chelsea. Ronaldo to be pooe again but United to graft he 1-0 win.

I think the first half, will a cautious affair. For the 20 minutes after half-time, both sides will try to go for it. If they don’t break the dead-lock with 20 minutes to go, both sides are going to get cautious again - not wanting to lose the game late on. I think it will go to extra time. And there’ll be a winner in extra time........
I incline slightly towards United; but it will be tight. This is one result you can’t really predict - you can just guess, because there are so many unknown imponderables: - which side will adapt better to the pitch (which isn’t very good)? - who will feel more at home in the neutral venue? - how will the body clocks of individual players respond to playing football in Russia at mid-night?(what a load of bollox that is) - which set of coaches will win the tactical battles? - which set of supporters will encourage their team more? - is one side going to suffer an unfortunate injury to a key player? - which side has the greater hunger? - will the match officials make a critical mistake? - which side will fortune favour? etc. etc.
United can’t afford to play 4-4-2 and get outnumbered in midfield by Lampard, Ballack, Makelele, Cole and Malouda and Michael Essien foraging into midfield from right full back......
For United, I would play 4-5-1. A central midfield of Hargraves, Scholes and Carrick, with Park and Rooney wide - Ronaldo up top - interchanging with Rooney.....
Whatever the result - I hope that both teams, with the eyes of the world upon them, do themselves justice and their supporters proud.......
I doubt if it will be exciting stuff.......too much to lose.....don't expect another 2005 final!

Wow....we are split down the middle on this one.....I'm torn....
Whoever wins would deserve the trophy no matter what, first time I can say that with conviction before the match even begins.... Man U had a stunning season, they had a plan, stuck to it, and played entertaining football as well. They did enough to make sure that even a loss at Chelsea would not be enough to take the league away from them.......
Chelsea on the other hand ground out results during some tough times, something only somebody who knows and plays football can truly appreciate. Its mentally exhausting and keeping it going for as long as they did was truely inspirational.....
Lots of other teams have in the past collapsed during a early season start of instability......
If they win it would be at least some reward for the hard work.

So true, sometimes i think this style is just as pleasing to see come of as the total football of Arsenal and United.

I'm happy with that result & i must say i really enjoyed that match. What was drogba playing at ? what a twat to do that in a game like this "IDIOT",and Joe Cole was being a diving winging twat a usual,i was glad to see him leave the field off play.
But all in all a fantastic game i reckon most enjoyable

What was drogba playing at ? what a twat to do that in a game like this "IDIOT",and Joe Cole was being a diving winging twat a usual. Most of them were at it to be fair, constantly moaning at the ref, diving and scuffling with each other. Other than that it was a good game and on the whole i thought United did just enough to deserve the win. One of the commentators cracked me up... after Makele went down... I'm not sure he knows what day it is.. neither do i.. its now thursday morning

Made up. Absolutely made up.
Not quite as dramatic as 99, but '08 is turning into one of my best years ever (and after 35 of them, that's saying something.)

What a fantastic night for Giggs! Breaking Sir Bobby's record and getting a second Champions League medal. Well deserved for being a great professional.
And what a great game. Never thought it would be but both sides played as if it was just another league match with no particular caution so it turned out to be a terrific advert for the Prem. Only hope Drogba's abject performance doesn't stop all the foreign clubs coming in for him. Loved the comment from the ITV commentator "Drogba can be such a big player for Chelsea - and such a big jessie".

Sam. May I ask how English you are? It doesn't matter how much you hate Chelsea, you can't call the England captain a dickhead. He is one of the best centre-halves in the world and we are lucky to have him along with Rio to make up our middle-back two.
