Little plots Dragons safety route Boss Brian Little has nine games to save Wrexham from the drop Brian Little concedes Wrexham only have "half a chance" of League Two survival. The Wrexham boss watched in frustration as his misfiring strikers wasted chance after chance as struggling Dagenham and Redbridge somehow held on for a draw.
"It'll get tougher," admits Little. "But we've still to play the teams just above us and those games are vital."
"If we win a couple of them we've half a chance of staying up and as we're no-one will believe we can catch somebody but we'll keep trying."
Wrexham are seven points from safety and face must-win relegation showdowns with fellow strugglers Mansfield, Macclesfield and Notts County in three of their next six games if they are to beat the drop into non-league.
The Dragons, though, could have dragged themselves off the foot of the Football League if only they had not have been so wasteful in front of goal against The Daggers.
Wrexham out-played the visitors but their goal-shy strikers missed half-a-dozen excellent goal-scoring opportunities.
Drewe Broughton hit the post twice and Michael Proctor hit the woodwork once.
"It wasn't frustrating because of a poor attitude or lack of commitment," said Little. "But we just couldn't score.
"That is the most dominant performance I've witnessed since I joined the club in November and I can't believe we haven't won.
"But we missed so many chances and when you're in our position, we just can't afford to do.
"We've tightened up defensively but scoring is the all important thing and that's where we're falling down.
"We don't normally create many chances but we did against Dagenham and we've missed them.
"So many things were right about us against Dagenham as we've outplayed them and tactically we've got it spot on.
"We knew the Easter weekend was going to be crucial so after Saturday's defeat at Brentford I knew we had to beat Dagenham and we're all gutted we haven't.
"Things will get tougher but we won't give up the fight."

Little vows to stick with Wrexham Brian Little took charge of Wrexham in November Wrexham boss Brian Little says the club should prepare for the worst but has vowed to stay at the Dragons if they lose their Football League status. The Racecourse side are bottom of the Football League, seven points adrift of safety with nine games to go.
And Little told the BBC's Sport Wales programme: "The club has to be prepared for whatever the outcome.
"But we are going to fight to the very end and that's the most important thing."
Little was appointed in November, replacing manager Brian Carey after three wins and 10 defeats from their opening 14 games left them next-to-bottom with just 10 points.
In Little's time, the club have picked up 23 points from 23 games but now find themselves at the foot of the table.
Despite their predicament, the former Aston Villa manager believes the Dragons still have a chance of staying in the Football League for the second successive year.
"We've been bottom of the table for such a long time now and the fact that we've not been tailed off is testament to the attitude of the players," he said.
"I think a lot of people up and down the country might still predict Wrexham for relegation, but we feel here that we've shown a fair amount of stick-ability and we're still within a very good chance and we won't give up.
"We have to survive in the hope that we can be competitive next season."
Little admits talks have taken place at boardroom level over the club's future should they go down, but insists they will not be made public.
"There has to be a plan," he said. "You can't wait until the last game of the season and suddenly say 'we've got to start thinking about this'.
"We've simply said to ourselves and our supporters that we are trying our best, we're working hard, we're fighting hard and I think they believe us."
Little has experienced relegation from the Football League before with Darlington who he took charge of at a later stage of the season.
But he insists dropping out of the League would not be a total disaster.
"There is life after the Football League if that happens but none of us think that is the right thing to happen.
"Nowadays, going into the Conference there are a lot of very solid, well-run football teams and it's more difficult to get out of.
"There is a route back, and when teams do come back they come back stronger.
"But we are so determined to try and stay in the Football League, that is our sole aim."
As for his own future should they go down, he said: "I certainly would stay if everything was right.
"We have to make sure everything is right for all parties and if that is the case then there's no reason why that shouldn't be the case.
"We've had conversations down that road and at the moment things are looking very positive towards that."

Barnet captain Ismail Yakubu faces a late fitness test on his hip injury for their League Two clash with Wrexham.
Striker Cliff Akurang and goalkeeper Rob Beckwith (both hamstring) are out but winger Jason Puncheon could return.
Wrexham's Danny Sonner (Achilles) is a doubt so ex-Northern Ireland midfielder Jeff Whitley could be recalled.
Striker Drewe Broughton is set to play after extending his Wrexham loan but Steve Evans, Rob Duffy (both knee) and Danny Williams (back) are out.

Wrexham's Football League survival hopes look bleak as their 3-2 defeat at Barnet widens the gap to League Two safety to eight points. Barnet skipper Ismail Yakubu scored on the stroke of half-time as he headed in Nicky Nicolau's left-wing free-kick. Anthony Thomas doubled Barnet's lead after the break before Drewe Broughton threw Wrexham a lifeline with a header. A Nicolau strike on the hour extended Barnet's advantage but Simon Spender's goal meant Wrexham went down fighting.

Wrexham director Geoff Moss has issued an apology to supporters as the drop to non-league football comes closer.
The Dragons are bottom of League Two eight points adrift of safety with just seven games left.
And Moss said: "There are no excuses, we are bottom of the league because we deserve to be there.
"You have had to put up with some pretty grim stuff at the Racecourse this year and we as directors can only apologise."
Tuesday's 2-1 loss at fellow relegation-threatened side Mansfield left their position looking even more precarious.
And they will have to pull off an even bigger comeback than last season when they won four out of their last five games to stay in the league.
But despite their plight, a total of 1,600 supporters attended the Dragon's last three away games at Brentford, Barnet and at Field Mill.
Moss praised those supporters for sticking with the club and vowed to keep fighting until Wrexham's fate is sealed one way or another.
And with the visit of Macclesfield to the Racecourse on Saturday, nothing less than a win will do.
"You deserve more than we have delivered, although we are as disappointed as anyone at our position," said Moss.
"We do though want to assure you we have done everything we can to try and arrest the situation - except get on the pitch and kick a ball ourselves.
"If the worst happens, we will have to dust ourselves down and get on with trying to restore a brighter future.
"The summer will give us the opportunity to come back as a stronger unit and we are determined to do just that."
But BBC Radio Wales football pundit Ian Walsh says the board need to look at themselves over Wrexham's plight.
"Unfortunately the problem is not just now, it's been there quite a while," he said.
"Wrexham got away with it by the skin of their teeth last season and not enough has been done on the field to get them into winning ways and winning habits.
"I know Brian Little came in before Christmas and he brought players in, but when you are down there you don't attract the type of players that are going to get you out of there."
"Players just don't want to go to a team at the foot of the Football League.
"The board have got to look at themselves and ask: 'do we take a lot of responsibility for this?' and I think they should."

Wrexham midfielder Danny Williams says the club should seek inspiration from last season's relegation battle ahead of Saturday's visit of Macclesfield.
"A lot of the lads here were involved last season, the points are still there for us to stay up and it's down to us to get the wins," he told BBC Sport.
A win over Boston on the last day of the season kept the Dragons up and condemned the visitors to the drop.
The Dragons are bottom of League Two, eight points from the safety zone.
With just seven games to go, manager Brian Little admits that planning for next season is on hold.
"There are senior players out of contract at the end of the season, but neither they nor the club can decide on the future at the moment," he told BBC Sport Wales.
"We felt it would be unfair and wrong to have had those sort of conversations going through the club in the last couple of months."
Little insists that the club have not forsaken the battle to stay in the league. The determination, commitment and team spirit are still there, no doubt
Wrexham manager Brian Little
"We won't give up, we can't give up," he said. "It was difficult after the midweek loss at Mansfield, but when we got back into training we quickly focused on what we neeed to do.
"We feel that we have been the equal of most sides we've faced, but we've committed foolish mistakes and have been lacking in front of goal.
"The determination, commitment and team spirit are still there, no doubt.
"Mansfield wasn't our last chance, but we know that now we have to rely on others losing as well as getting the wins ourselves.
"We're not setting targets, but we'll have a better indication of where things stand after this weekend."

Steve Evans rescued a point for League Two bottom side Wrexham against fellow strugglers Macclesfield, but the Dragons remain seven points adrift.
Jamie Tolley seized on a poor Evans clearance to rifle Macclesfield ahead from the edge of the box on 52 minutes.
Evans made amends when the big centre back connected with Mike's Proctor cross to convert with a looping header.
But while the point could prove vital for Macclesfield in their battle, things now look bleak for Wrexham.

Wrexham boss Brian Little warned his players that if they continue to make mistakes then they could consign League Two's bottom club to relegation.
A defensive mix-up allowed Macclesfield to take the lead on Saturday before Steve Evans' equaliser, although the Dragons really needed all three points.
"We've got loads of quantity and we're lacking in quality," Little said.
"The quantity is work-rate, commitment, effort, but we make loads of mistakes which is where the quality comes in."
Wrexham are seven points adrift of safety with just six matches remaining this season.
"Ultimitely it's quality that's costing us, is costing us every week and it was another poor goal we conceded," Little added.

Danny Williams insists rock bottom Wrexham 'deserve what they get' after their 4-1 mauling at leaders MK Dons.
The fans favourite hit out at Wrexham's habit of conceding sloppy goals in the wake of another defensive horror show at stadium:MK on Tuesday.
Wrexham are set to drop out of the Football League for the first time in their history as they're seven points from safety with four games to go.
Williams said: "Mistakes keep costing us dear and we deserve what we get."
Williams is one of Wrexham's home-town players and the former Liverpool trainee aided the club's great escape from relegation on a dramatic final day of last season.
But the 28-year-old knows that a similar Houdini act is unlikely as The Dragons would need to win all of their remaining games to survive and hope the teams above them continue losing.
Such a quest is a tall order bearing in mind Wrexham have secured just two points from their last available 18.
"Last year we were closer to the pack," conceded Williams.
"It is a very hard task and if we did survive, it would be a much greater achievement than our last year's escape act.
"But while it is still mathematically possible, we'll give it a go.
"It would be criminal if we gave in, the fans aren't giving up and neither will we. We'll keep fighting."
The Dons strolled to a fourth successive victory and the leaders will secure promotion to League One should Stockport lose at home to Mansfield on Wednesday.
Wrexham, in contrast, are all but doomed to dropping into non-league and ending their 87-year stay in the Football League.
MK Dons had virtually won the top versus bottom League Two clash within the opening ten minutes as Danny Swailes and Aaron Wilbraham scored.
Neil Roberts' penalty was mere consolation for Wrexham as Sean O'Hanlon and Wilbraham's late second ensured the visitors a thrashing.
"We actually played some good stuff against the best team in this division," maintained Williams.
"We passed the ball well and did OK but the score-line suggests we got battered and that's the most important part of football.
"Conceding sloppy goals have been the story of our season.
"The manager Brian Little must get so frustrated, they scored with their first attack.
"They went 2-0 up pretty quickly and for a team in our position, it was always going to be an uphill struggle against the leaders especially for a team that doesn't score many goals."

Brian Little says no-one should completely write off Wrexham's survival chances after a crucial 1-0 win over Notts County.
The Dragons are six points from safety with three games to go but face a tough trip to promotion-hunting Hereford on Tuesday.
"We are still in there, we still might surprise everybody," said boss Little.
"It is a tall order but there is still a chance and you cannot give up on that."
And midfielder Matty Done says the win has lifted the spirits in the camp.
"Today is a massive confidence boost for all the lads and everyone involved," he said.
"We knew it wasn't going to be a thriller, but the lads who have come in have done absolutely brilliantly.
"It was a bonus to win and we will go into Tuesday full of confidence."
