Can i ask you a question Joe?
If he played for a club other than Oldham, would you still defend him like the way you are doing now?
Or are you only defending him because he's getting the goals for you?

If he was at my Club i would not support him. As others have already said, it is not a good role model to look up to.

Or are you only defending him because he's getting the goals for you? I know i'm not Joe but Hughes isn't at Charlton and i'm defending him and if he did play at Charlton i would support him. Whether you think he has done his time or not is irrelevant, he was let out. What do you expect him to do, voluntarily stay in jail? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it is against everyone else and this is mine. He seems to be sorry and seeing as he can't go back in time (to my knowledge anyway) there is little else he can do that he isn't already. He shouldn't keep being abused for a mistake he made (albeit a rather big one) and so i support him. This IS NOT saying anyone's opinion is wrong, merely expressing my own, which you may disagree with if you wish.

Drink/driving should carry a life long driving ban ..No questions asked IMO..No 6 month /1 Year ban etc etc..BANNED FOR LIFE END OF!
And that just makes it worse being a footballer ,making X amount of money..why couldn't of he just got a taxi? and to drive off? Absolutely Appalling!!!!!!!!!!
Really didn't know the extent of what he did until I read Bismarck's post
Summed it up in a nutshell Bismarck

I think your missing the point there...I commented that Drink-Driver's should be banned from driving for life not locked up for life...
Drink-Driving is inexcusable don't care what the circumstances are..I have never as much as gone behind a wheel even after a mouthful of alcohol and the money he was on?....Any fool knows the sensible thing to do is take a Taxi...On his money he could of hired a Limo..
I sincerely hope we don't play Oldham in the near future or he will be in for alot of abuse... especially from me

The problem that I have with this is that he not only drove when he was drunk, but he killed someone and left them lying in the road to die.
Oldham will be selling shirts with this cowards name on the back, and some of their supporters kids will be buying them and idolising him.
He should be banned from playing football for ever, and have to get a proper job out of the public eye.

A day too late you say... HE WAS FLIPPING DRUNK! No, he shouldnt have been, he made the biggest mistake of his life, and regrets it every day of his life!
Did God/Jesus not say to give people 2nd chances?

A day too late you say... HE WAS FLIPPING DRUNK! What a ridiculous thing to say. Even if you're drunk, it's pretty obvious you don't leave a man to die.
