PALERMO, February 1 (Serie A) - Palermo striker Amauri admits the club is going through a rough patch and insists a result against Livorno on Saturday is imperative.
The Rosaneri entertain Livorno at the Renzo Barbera stadium having lost all three of their matches in 2008.
Last season Palermo swept the Labronici aside with a 3-0 victory, but it may not prove so easy this year as the Leghorn club went nine games unbeaten before last weekend's defeat to Juventus.
``Unfortunately, we are experiencing an unfortunate period and we can only get out of it by working hard,'' Brazilian Amauri told Palermo's official website, www.ilpalermocalcio.it.
``I do not agree with those who say this team lacks character. It is easy to talk like this after four defeats but there are still 18 games to be played until the end of the season and we have time to prove them wrong.
``We wanted to get back on track last Saturday against Roma. At the Olimpico we played well and we were able to contain the Giallorossi.
``But the dismissal of (Leandro) Rinaudo was a blow and soon after we conceded that controversial goal.
``We will aim to turn our season around against Livorno with the help of the supporters who could be like an extra player.
``The Amaranto are in good form and have had a good run of results so we cannot make any mistakes and we must get a result.''
New Aquile signing Federico Balzaretti looks set to make his debut at left-back after Marco Pisano and Aimo Diana left for Torino. Giuseppe Biava will deputise for the suspended Rinaudo in central defence alongside Andrea Barzagli.
Up front, Amauri, Fabrizio Miccoli and Edison Cavani will form a three-pronged attack.
Livorno coach Giancarlo Camolese will not be taking anything for granted as his side look to get back on track after last weekend's 3-1 defeat.
He told the club's official website, ``After the home loss to Juventus we really want to redeem ourselves and start another good run. But we are well aware it will not be easy against Palermo.
``The Favorita is traditionally a tough stadium and they are a really well-structured side. They should have more points than they have.
``They have players with real talent and we must watch players like Amauri, Miccoli and Cavani. It should be an entertaining match.''
Camolese has a midfield crisis with Martin Bergvold and Giuliano Giannichedda still out injured and Daniele De Vezze banned for one game.
Defender Rahman Rezaei and striker Francesco Volpe are also sidelined through injury.
Despite impressing as a substitute, scoring the Amaranto's consolation goal against Juve, Albanian striker Erjon Bogdani looks set to continue to warm the bench as Camolese retains the Diego Tristan and Francesco Tavano partnership up front.
