We take a look at the young lions straining at the leash to impress new England boss Fabio Capello...
Gabriel Agbonlahor - On September 20, 2006, Agbonlahor was pencilled in as a player in the Nigeria U-20 team for a match against Rwanda. He turned down the chance, became Villa's main goal threat, and is now pressing for an England berth.
Ashley Young - Ashley Young has started this season strongly, providing assists, pace and receiving several man of the match awards for Villa. Young's contribution from the flank has been a key component in the club's recent revival.
David Bentley - David Bentley made history when he became the first man to score at the new Wembley in March 2007 in an U21 match against Italy. His delivery from set pieces has been compared to that of a certain David Beckham.
Dean Ashton - The Hammers' blond hitman was called up to the England squad for the first time in his career for the friendly against Greece in August 2006. Unfortunately he broke his ankle and missed the entire season. Now he is back to fitness and in contention for a place.
Leighton Baines - Leighton Baines impressed for Wigan scoring three goals in 38 games last season and this, plus his performances in the Under-21 European Championships, led to Everton signing him in August 2007.
Mark Noble - A popular figure at Upton Park Noble is a tough tackling midfield player capable of excellent delivery with either peg.
Michael Johnson - Michael Johnson is a creative midfield player who broke into the first team this season. His first City goal came in his second game against Derby. He has followed that with a string of assured performances, including another goal against Aston Villa.
Nedum Onouha - Manchester City youngster Nedum Onuoha made his Barclays Premiership debut for Manchester City in a 1-1 home draw with Norwich City in 2004/05. He has since become a first team regular and is considered not far behind Micah Richards in terms of ability.
Nigel Reo-Coker - Nigel Reo-Coker came through the ranks at Wimbledon, making his debut in April 2002. He moved on to captain West Ham before Martin O'Neill lured him to Villa Park last summer to play a holding role in front of Villa's back four.
Rob Green - The West Ham stopper has been in fine form this season. Despite a string of match winning performances he was surprisingly ignored under Steve McClaren's England tenure.
Theo Walcott - The rarely seen Arsenal striker has yet to score a Premier League goal so a call up is unlikely. More ridiculous things have happened though. Sven took him to the World Cup for one.
