Brett Emerton insists Australia will do their best to play flowing football at the AFC Asian Cup, but has warned conditions could be a key factor in dictating how they play.
The Blackburn midfielder arrived in Thailand with the rest of the Socceroos squad on Wednesday and they took part in their first training session at the Rajamangala stadium in Bangkok on Thursday morning.
Graham Arnold's side is brimming with talent from Europe's top leagues and many are expecting a high standard of football when the Australians make their debut in the tournament against fellow Group A hopefuls Oman on Sunday.
But Emerton insists that though the players will try their best to play 'sexy football' wherever possible, the hot and humid conditions of Thailand could force them to adapt their playing style.
"We will try and play some sexy football but the conditions are very hot and we have to be smart about the way we play the game and play sexy football at the right time," he said.
"We think every team in this tournament, not just in our group, are very strong and playing in the Asian Cup is something new for the Australian team."
"We are taking every single game very seriously and I am sure that each and every team we come up against will be very tough and we will have to do our best to win these games."
All eyes are on the Socceroos with expectations high for their debut in the tournament following an impressive run in the 2006 World Cup.
But Emerton insists it will not be easy and warned there are plenty of strong teams that will be standing in Australia's way to the final.
He added: "It's a new experience for us going into this tournament as the favourites."
"There is a lot of expectation from the Australian public which is a first for us."
"Hopefully we can go all the way but I am sure each and every team that enters this tournament will want to win it."
"Like I said it is going to be tough so at the moment we will take one game at the time and hopefully we will be good enough to win it."
"We will have to be at our very best."

The Socceroos are now sweating on the fitness of two players ahead of their Asian Cup opener on Sunday after Luke Wilkshire added to their woes with a training injury.
Wilkshire, set to start at left back for Australia against Oman when they kick off their Asian Cup campaign, rolled an ankle late in the team's training session at Bangkok's Supachalasi Stadium on Thursday night.
He left the field in the hands of team doctor Peter Brukner and joins midfielder Mark Bresciano on the doubtful list.
Bresciano injured his toe in a practice match in Singapore on Tuesday night.
Wilkshire had been marked as the replacement for absent Scott Chipperfield on the left side of defence and if he is forced out of the game it would leave coach Graham Arnold with a huge problem.
At least the Socceroos have multiple options to cover Bresciano's position, with starting roles likely for both Harry Kewell and Brett Holman should the Palermo midfielder not get up.
But Bresciano was confident he would be 100 percent fit for Sunday night, though he said he would put the team first when it came to making the hard decision.
He trained fully in both sessions on Thursday.
The Socceroos are set to hold a closed training session on Saturday afternoon so team formations and tactics for the match against Oman can be played out away from prying eyes.
