And it hasn't really worked for them yet as they still haven't captured the ultimate prize. Sam's dead right about Platini though - a resounding silence is all we've heard from him so far. Imagine if it was Man U doing it.

No offence taken Sam...shades of Chelsea here. It's not exactly a new thing Real did this kind of thing as far back as Di Stefano and Puskas.

Quite true Arover but it was pretty much limited to Real in those days. Now there are at least half a dozen clubs in Europe who can break the bank any time they need to.

It's actually getting a bit ridiculous now. Latest rumours are that Ribery won't go anywhere else & that they are bidding for Benzema. Seems to me that they are trying to stop anybody else buying anyone half decent at all. Kind of hope it all goes to pot for them.

No I suppose I'm not really as they should be great to watch. However, unless they start buying some defenders soon they'll still be as easy to beat!

They have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Valencia to sign defender Raul Albiol for a reported £12million.A step in the right direction mate.

Interesting post on the Times website in response to an article about the morals of Madrid's high spending:
"Everyone knows that at least 3 of Real Madrid's Europe cups were bought with the facist plunder of that murderer Franco. Corruption and fear were always on offer in the Santiago Bernabeu, so few officials resisted. Be ashamed facist Madrid pigs your history is a lie."

Why is Real's president whining about the Champs league not favouring the best sides? What does he want, Real, Barca, Man U, AC Milan, Inter, Liverpool, Bayern all to get automatic places in the last 8 cos they are big clubs and the rest have to battle out for the remaining spot? European Super League, give us a break with your football ruining ideas but Platini may listen and football may forever be destroyed cos of this twat

They keep talking about a Super league but that's as far as it goes. Personally I don't think it would work because of the travel involved for fans to go to away matches and I wonder if, in fact, even the clubs that would be involved feel the same? Hence tha talk but no action.
